Please keep in mind that Shadowlands class updates are still in development and subject to change. With new expansions and an increasing level cap came new spells, abilities, and Talents. While earning new powers is exciting and a natural part of growth in a role-playing game, eventually we began to butt up against the limits of action bar and accessible keybind space, and many of the tools and perks that had once defined certain classes became increasingly widespread, diminishing class uniqueness.
To address this in the past, we made changes to Talents with Mists of Pandariaand even removed several abilities in Warlords of Draenor. In Legionalongside the introduction of Artifact weapons, we focused on class identity and carving out a distinct fantasy for each specialization to go along with their weapon. Mechanically, this meant revamps to most of our specializations, removing several long-standing class-wide abilities and adding new spec-specific abilities in the process.
At times, there is more that divides two specializations of the same class than there is that unites them. In an expansion that is all about choice, we also want to give players more opportunities to make impactful choices to customize their gameplay and express their own vision of how their characters engage in combat. In addition to these changes, players will have their new Covenant class abilities to look forward to, which we preview comprehensively in our Shadowlands: A Look at Covenant Class and Signature Abilities blog.
Former champions of the Lich King, Death Knights overwhelm their foes with brute force and dark magic. In LegionDeath Knights became very narrowly focused thematically around their spec for example, Frost Death Knights having an overwhelming majority of their spells be Frost-themed only. In Shadowlandswe are unifying the core Death Knight kit by restoring many abilities back to all specs, including popular utility options from the past.
Once these changes are live, all Death Knights will be able to desecrate the ground around them with Unholy magic to deal damage to their enemies with Death and Decayor neutralize their attacks with Anti-Magic Zone. Furthermore, every Death Knight will once again be able to tap into unnatural powers to temporarily turn themselves undead with Lichborneor use Raise Dead to summon a ghoulish servant to fight alongside them.
The new Sacrificial Pact ability enables Death Knights to perform a forbidden ritual, sacrificing one of their undead minions, siphoning their health and causing them to explode and deal damage to nearby enemies. Finally, the frosty grasp of Chains of Ice will once again bind the enemies of all Death Knights. At home in the Shadowlands and amongst their fellow dead, Blood Death Knights can learn new abilities and Talents.
Blood Tap allows Death Knights to consume essence from slain enemies to generate 1 Rune, and is repeatable whenever a Bone Shield charge is used. Relish in Blood will significantly heal these bloody bruisers for each active Bone Shield charge and grant 5 Runic Power when Death and Decay is cast while Crimson Scourge is active.
The harsh lessons learned on frozen tundra of Northrend have manifested into new abilities and Talents. Hypothermic Presence is a new Talent that halves the Runic Power cost of abilities for a moderate amount of time, giving the Death Knight the vigor to strike down all who stand against them.
While all Death Knights have some ability to control and reanimate undead minions, an Unholy Death Knight has chosen to specialize necromantic magic, and their abilities should reflect that. All Unholy Death Knights will be able to use Summon Gargoyle previously a Talent to bring these flying terrors to their side.
Army of the Damned Talent returns as an even stronger force with a familiar and faithful recruit—a Magus of the Dead. Shadowlands class updates are still in development and subject to change. We check this data every day and make sure that it is accurate and up to date.
The data is gathered from the most recent successful boss kills of Castle Nathria from WarcraftLogs. You can see the number of parsed logs for each boss. By using the approach of combining dozens of real logs from last week's Shadowlands Beta Raid Testing of Castle Nathria, we can measure the central tendency of this dataset while taking statistical dispersion into the account to provide you with the most realistic chart.
WoW DPS Rankings / Tier List - Shadowlands Beta
This is the most reliable way before we have access to Shadowlands Simulationcraft data. Please note that Shadowlands Beta is still very much a work in progress so these numbers are evolving constantly as Blizzard introduces many changes with every patch. We are keeping this page up-to-date. You can judge for yourself by exploring our chart above. Generally speaking, if you are looking to maximize your damage output, the Top 5 specs would be a safe choice indeed.
But please do not be discouraged if your class or spec of preference is ranked lower at the moment - at the end of the day the most important thing is whether you enjoy the playstyle or not. We know perfectly well that outdated data is useless. That is why we check these numbers every single day to verify that it is up to date and then we update it the moment anything changes.

Big features like a new class, new specs, etc. Come with the first gameplay trailer every single time. The next WoW pannels will discuss the systems in place, and zones in more detail. Yes choosable covenants and this endless dungeon are not new at all. And there is not going to be any new info coming over the next 48 hours or over the next year.
All they have to do is add a class with 4 abilities to mash and some edgy shadowlands origin and everyone is in the clear. I doubt they would up-end factions like that. Not without some way of switching i. Call me crazy, but for the first time ever, I find myself not interested in any of the features of an expansion. I have absolutely no feelings for the lands, creatures and anything else. Edit: Oh, there was a disappointment, actually. Sylvanas beating the Lich King?
That was disappointing. I like the Covenant thing they teased could be a good way to provide an alternative pvp wise instead of Horde vs Alliance. Also, this seemed like a short duration announcement.
It seems most of the games are being much more restricted on time.Forgot your password? In this overview, you will find a comprehensive list of all class changes and the general class philosophy going into the Shadowlands expansion. On this page, you will find more details about Blizzard's class philosophy for the Shadowlands expansion and overviews of the individual class changes that are coming in the pre-patch.
Many tools and perks that had once defined certain classes became increasingly widespread over the years, diminishing class uniqueness. To fix this in the past, the developers made changes to talents with Mists of Pandaria, and removed several abilities in Warlords of Draenor. In Legion, they focused on class identity and carving out a distinct fantasy for each specialization to go along with their Artifact weapons, which resulted in the removal of several long-standing class-wide abilities and adding new specialization-specific abilities in the process.
In Battle for Azeroth, they have moved too far away from the core of the class that initially sparked players' interest when they first created their character, and in Shadowlands, they want to return to the idea that a specialization is about powering up a specific part of a class's kit, not narrowing down their toolset.
Shadowlands is about player choice and the goal is to give players more opportunities to make impactful choices to customize their gameplay and express their own vision of how their characters engage in combat. To achieve this, many specialization-specific and iconic abilities that help define class identity are coming back and will be class-wide. Large pulls have become a prevalent tactic in much of the game, which made it hard for many classes to find a clear role.
As a result, Blizzard revisited the maximum number of targets that many abilities can hit in Shadowlands, which results in nerfs to many AoE abilities.
Shadowlands Class Updates
The general philosophy is to allow melee classes to excel in situations with four to five targets and ranged casters perform better against five or more targets. Most non-periodic abilities on all classes will have a small amount of variance on the damage or healing of each individual use.
This was standard behavior in WoW form many years and has its roots in familiar mechanics from many RPGsbut recently was lost as a side effect of some under-the-hood mechanical changes. Blizzard is restoring this behavior to bring back the small bit of texture, and avoid the result where using the same spell repeatedly results in exactly the same 3- or 4-digit numbers every time. Blizzard has taken some "burst cooldowns" off the global cooldown GCD in Shadowlands.
Burst cooldowns are abilities that increase your damage or healing output every 2 to 3 minutes. To increase the impact of " Mortal Wounds " and similar healing reduction effects in PvE situations, Blizzard has doubled the magnitude of these effects against non-player enemies. The value of these efects will remain the same against players.
Due to the level squish, you will gain access to a new row of talents at Level 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, and You can find all class-specific changes linked below. They will go live with the Shadowlands pre-patch before the expansion is released.

Like everyone else is saying, dh's. Do you hear the voices too? Originally Posted by kingarthas. Rogue is getting a lot of stuff back, I like Sub so far.
Druid looks good.
Triple frenzied Regen with heart of the wild and guardian affinity, very helpful when being trained. DH is the obvious, but I personally like the way DK shapes up.
I really wanted to play a caster with SL, but their lot seems to be rather meh right now. Originally Posted by Haidaes. Originally Posted by Soon-TM. Even Enhancement is getting some nifty tricks. Also healer and tank specs. Uses mail armor. Primary stat is intellect. Level squish postponed. No world revamp. Raid tier sets are not returning, but there will be class-specific challenge sets.
But also certain villains. The Old Gods are not dead. The Black Empire will rise again very soon. This is what Azshara saw when she died. Bolvar brings us there. Alliance has inadvertently helped the war against the Old Gods in the Shadowlands. They will be reunited with all of the casualties almost. Bwonsamdi is working for Hakkar the Soulflayer, who seeks power for himself, also by consuming souls. Old Gods: The void exploited the defeat of Argus to gain access to the Shadowlands.
Huge rivers of souls run through each zone. Bwonsamdi has been roped into working for Hakkar the Soulflayer. We help him overthrow Hakkar and reclaim his title as the loa of death. Everything is spilling in and out of rifts.
Source of void incursions on Dragon Isles and Emerald Dream. Main city and sanctuary is here. Lots of questlines and two dungeons.
Class Changes in Shadowlands Expansion
Ethereals have a big presence here. There will likely be 9 dungeons total at launch, 5 in Shadowlands and 4 on Dragon Isles. No names for them yet. We will help rebuild the black dragonflight. Storylines for each dragon aspect.
We have seen Tinkerers several time in this expac. This is the most likely time they can get implemented. This is still more then likly false.
